Specsavers head of marketing implementation Ross Haines officially commissioned the industrial press, which was installed last month, at the event. It follows the installation of SPS Group's first FB10000 in January.
The firm previously ran a HP Scitex FB7600, which it part exchanged.
“This has superseded the FB7600; it’s faster and has better quality,” said managing director Toby Martin. “What we’re noticing is that, for the POS industry, a lot more is going down the digital route now and I think that’s going to be a growing trend because the speed and quality is now there.”
The HP Scitex FB10000 can print at up to 625sqm/hr and it has the ability to print on very thin substrates as well as those up to 25mm. It can be used to produce POS, 3D displays, short-run packaging, light boxes, posters, banners and event graphics.
SPS Group also runs Roland 900 XXL and Heidelberg eight-colour B1 presses, a Thieme two-colour screen press, a Xerox iGen 150 V2, Polar and Guowang guillotines, a Lamina FA Blackline fully automatic sheet laminator and a Redline RL2100 semi-automatic die-cutter.
The family-owned company, which has 165 staff and is looking to turn over around £15.5m this year, has invested over £2m in new equipment since early 2013, in line with the needs of its clients. Its customers include Specsavers, Starbucks, Wickes, Tesco, Vodafone and L’Oreal.
HP Scitex market development manager Simon Goldsack said: “We are very proud to have SPS as a customer. It’s very creative and has grown its business sufficiently to be able to take delivery of the second FB10000. We look forward to the future and when we’re able to move onto the next level with the company, whenever that may be.”
