The short-run desktop digital colour label printer will make its debut at the PPMA show at Birmingham's NEC on 25-27 September and again at Islington Business Design Centre's Packaging Innovations on 4 and 5 October.
The machine will be commercially available at the shows and is being aimed at manufacturers and printers wanting their own in-house solution for label printing.
M1C Labelmaxer can run full colour at 1,600 x 1,600dpi at 150mm/second or at faster speeds of 300mm/second at 1,600 x 800 dpi. It can handle print widths of 50-222mm and substrates as thick as 0.33m down to 0.13mm.
The price is yet to be confirmed but is said to be similar to Own-x's Speedstar 3000, for which AMS has recently been appointed as exclusive UK distributor.
AMS marketing manager Victoria Christen said the product was very fast and produced excellent quality.
"Users do not have to make up plates and can print on-demand the exact amount needed. This means they do not need to hold stock which makes it cheaper for them and cheaper for their clients."
AMS will also be showcasing its recently-launched poly bagging system X-Bag ahead of an upcoming re-release.
Christen added that the shows would determine which products are desired by potential customers to guide AMS' early venture into the packaging sector. AMS has a vast mailing portfolio featuring products such as the ATS-12 tabber and AMS 3500, an entry-level enveloping line.
