When few could argue that print has suffered another tough 12 months, it's great to be able to say that being part of this great industry is still clearly a massive source of pride to many of you – as illustrated by the quality and quantity of entries to this year's PrintWeek Awards.

So, congratulations to all 76 of the shortlisted companies (not forgetting the three trainees), it's safe to say that to get this far alone is a massive achievement. You've impressed a judging panel that is collectively responsible for buying well over £100m worth of print, so to say that they're pretty discerning is a massive understatement.

With that in mind, I must thank our 28 judges, who had the tough task of poring over the 1,000-plus print samples that were submitted to this year's Awards. Thanks to all of our sponsors too, for their valued support.

With 18 October just over five weeks away, I want to take this opportunity to wish all of the companies honoured in the subsequent pages good luck for what should be a another fantastic night at the Grosvenor House.
