Lavatorial leanings

Today's topic is toilets. Not in the "this whole country is going down the ...." sense, but in the actuality.

I recently enjoyed a short trip to Vienna, the highlights of which included hot punsch, sausages, and two toilets. It's not often that a convenience in this country will make me smile, or will be a pleasure to visit, but I discovered things are different in Austria.

Pictured below are the leafy loos at the Schönbrunn Palace. What a delight! The simple addition of some large-format adhesive graphics has transformed the whole toileting experience. The verdant theme continued into the individual cubicles, and what's more the clientele also seemed to appreciate the charming environment as there was no sign of "Shazza luvs Gazza" or the usual profanities carved into the walls. The men's loo too, is apparently just as nice.

The second picture is the "opera  toilet" at a u-bahn station that could be likened to London's Hyde Park Corner. There's piped music at this one too.

Admittedly my knowledge of the UK's decorated toilet scene is not extensive, but I think there has to be an opportunity for an enterprising graphics provider to flog similar custom-themed ideas to attractions such as stately homes, sports stadia, theme parks and gardens, as well as shops and restaurants... who knows, you could end up flushed with success.
