Earlier this month the Uckfield, East Sussex-headquartered business took delivery of the B2 press, which follows the first that was installed a year ago.
Together the two machines will further enhance Pureprint’s digital printing capacity and capabilities, sitting alongside the company’s existing two Indigo 12000 and two Indigo 7900 presses. It also operates three Heidelberg Speedmaster litho presses at the Uckfield site.
The circa 400-staff business said new market opportunities in gifting and personalisation have seen growth in demand for new product lines which require vibrant colour and a range of substrates, and that the addition of this second Indigo 100K would help it to deliver against increased demand, which has already exceeded 2019 levels.
Pureprint CEO Mark Handford said: “We have always been at the forefront of technology and innovation. With the performance of our first HP Indigo 100K we installed in October 2020, making the decision to bring in a second machine, a UK first, was an easy one.
“Its high production output will considerably increase our digital print capacity and its high quality of print supports both our commercial and online digital print platforms perfectly.”
The ISO 14001 accredited company added that by increasing its productivity with the new press it can turn work around faster and at a higher quality, while also further reducing waste and its impact on the environment.
All HP Indigo press manufacturing is carbon offset.
Pureprint group director Stuart Robertson told Printweek: “We started our environmental journey about 30 years ago and very much did it because as the ethos of our business we believed it was the right thing to do, and it continues to be so.
“So with any piece of kit we always take that into consideration – the carbon neutral production methods of the HP Indigo very much fits.
“But that’s obviously only part of the journey; you’ve got to think about how the kit has actually been built and then think about how you can continue to deliver the carbon neutrality once it’s in the business. It really helps when you’ve got as innovative and forward-thinking a partner as HP.”
Robertson added the new press was “part of a continual and wider investment programme within the group”.
The 6,000sph Indigo 100K offers a 30% speed and 50% productivity boost over its B2 Indigo peers, while maintaining the same image quality.
HP Industrial UK&I country manager Peter Jolly called Pureprint “an incredible partner of HP in the UK”.
He added: “This second HP Indigo 100K digital press is the perfect fit for what they are trying to achieve operationally, and we wish Pureprint all the best success with this latest investment.”
