The use of inks and consumables incorporating GBL is facing a range of restrictions across the globe, and narrowly escaped an effective ban in the UK this month – instead receiving a reprieve via a public consultation.
Established in 2009, NUtec Digital Ink said that innovation is at its core, highlighting that as early as 2018, it introduced its first GBL-free ink offerings as like-for-like replacements for Mimaki SS21 and Roland Eco-Sol MAX inks. Today the company manufactures an extensive GBL-free range for multiple leading printer and printhead brands.
NUtec said its strategy is to design products that are healthier for the machine operator and result in a reduced environmental impact and comply with all regional chemical regulatory and labelling laws. As a result, NUtec lays claim to an impressive history of pioneering ink development.
Its GBL-free solvent inks offer excellent outdoor durability and, when used in regular applications using suitable substrates, will deliver printed images that last for up to two years.
Backed by the company’s Ink Delivery System (IDS) Warranty, the low odour GBL-free formulations offer superior abrasion and chemical resistance, while providing excellent media compatibility across a broad range of self-adhesive and flexible substrates for both indoor and outdoor applications for signage, point-of-sale and printed visual communications.
