The 80ppm Versant 80, which will 'strategically replace' the C75 and J75 models, delivers image quality of 2,400dpi. It can handle a variety of media types with a compact Belt Fuser system and Xerox’s low melt (EA) dry ink.
Xerox Worldwide entry production colour product marketing manager Brian Segnit said: "The Versant 80 is a derivative of the Versant 2100. It's a future-proof investment in performance, quality and versatility."
The press will be available with a Performance Package, which maintains top speeds of 80ppm on all stocks up to 350gsm, along with an inline spectrophotometer for increased colour automation.
The machine comes with a choice of two servers: the Xerox EX-i 80 print server or the Xerox EX 80 print server, both of which are powered by Fiery. The addition of XMPie uDirect Classic Pro software will enable printers to produce variable data-driven personalised communications.
The 800i and 1000i will replace the Xerox Colour 800 and 1000 models. Xerox Worldwide high-entry production product marketing manager Mary Roddy said: "The 'i' in the name stands for improvement, innovation and it's ultimately truly impressive. It also stands for increased revenue potential."
These printers include an optional specialty dry ink station that enhances documents with true pantone metallic gold or silver speciality dry inks or applies spot or flood creative effects with clear dry ink. Xerox said it is the first manufacturer in the industry to offer silver dry ink at rated speed.
Xerox partnered products business unit vice-president Scott Reese said: "The Colour 800i and 1000i will extend the capabilities of our current Colour press family, enhancing the system productivity and adding metallic dry inks of gold and silver to our current option of clear drying.
"These options were developed to expand the application range and bring new applications to the digital printing forefront."
According to Xerox, printers will be able to migrate foil stamping applications, such as invitations, certificates and business cards, to short-run digital production with these machines.
Productivity enhancements include a full-width array to automate critical press functions, time to production operational improvements and a new Xerox EX-P 1000i Print Server, powered by Fiery.
The Versant 80 will be available to order from April while the Colour 800i and 1000i presses are available for install from this month. The Versant 80 with Performance Package and optional upgrades for current Colour 800/1000 customers will be available in the second quarter.
Xerox said pricing for these machines is expected to be "competitive and consistent" with the specific products they are replacing.
