The colour measurement device uses very simple software to allow entry level users to use the same colour profile technology as X-Rite’s professional colour calibration products.
The system uses graphics, video animation and on-screen instructions to guide users towards achieving professional results without needing to know anything about colour science.
X-Rite marketing manager Thomas Kunz said: "ColorMunki Smile features the advanced colour measurement technology that X-Rite is known for while providing beginners with an easy-to-use solution for calibrating monitors."
"With the introduction of ColorMunki Smile, users can now be sure that their monitors always accurately display the true colours of their photographs, videos, games and web browsing experiences," he added.
The calibration tool is aimed at amateur photographers and design enthusiasts looking for a simple way to correct the colours on their computer monitors. But it can also be used as a cheap solution for entry-level printers who are not confident with more sophisticated monitor calibration tools.
It automatically detects when multiple monitors are connected to a computer, allowing users to simultaneously colour correct various screens.
Priced £89, the ColorMunki Smile makes colour control technology more accessible to entry-level users compared to the existing models, the ColorMunki Photo and ColorMunki Design, which both cost £319.
