Released worldwide on 28 August, Videojet’s latest device is configured with the US manufacturer’s Optimize analytical software designed to guide users to increase the efficiency of its machinery and the Simplicity interface, which reduces operator/printer interaction times.
It has been released to market as a more cost-effective alternative to the high-end 1860 as companies “do not always require all of its advanced capabilities”, according to Videojet.
Global business unit director Anthony Blencowe said: “The 1580 has been launched to appeal to customers looking at excellent printer value for professional use and affordability simultaneously.
“CIJ is considered the most versatile primary coding and marking technology. We were motivated to develop the 1580 by customers’ need for a system with high throughput capabilities and excellent functionality at a budget friendly price point and the ability to maximise uptime and deliver attractive total cost of ownership.
“This product is aimed at medium-to-large companies who do not necessarily operate on a round-the-clock basis. Its ability to be upgraded as production needs dictate is a strong selling point, as workflow modules can be added as required without having to invest up-front.”
With application potential across industries including food and drink, pharmaceutical, aeronautical and automotive, the Videojet 1580 can be loaded with any of 28 available inks, depending on the substrate in use.
It can output up to five lines of print through its single printhead at a maximum line speed of 293m/min. Its memory can store more than 250 complex messages. An optional reserve make-up tank can be added for at least eight hours of extra run-time.
Optimize software analyses factors including printer performance, operator behaviour and environmental influences to guide operators on correcting sub-par printer usage that leads to unplanned downtime, as well as potential impacts on productivity and costs.
Remote VideojetConnect services are also available to give operators instant access to a worldwide network of CIJ experts for assistance at the touch of a button.
Blencowe said one unnamed UK trial site had ordered two of the units after being impressed during testing.
