Change effective from 1 April

The Navigator Company to increase packaging paper prices

Navigator's high-quality kraft paper brand gKRAFT

The Navigator Company is set to increase the price of all of its Packaging Papers by 4-7%, effective with orders shipping 1 April 2025 onwards.

In a statement released today (14 March), the Portuguese pulp and paper company said the price adjustment was necessary due to the higher input costs essential for paper manufacturing, in particular – but not exclusively – pulp and energy, which have experienced significant increases over recent months.

“Under the brand gKRAFT, Navigator is consolidating its position as a global supplier of high-quality kraft papers,” the company stated.

“With a comprehensive range fitting segments such as flexible packaging, bags, fill and form packaging and box applications, gKRAFT takes advantage of the specific molecular structure and morphology of eucalyptus globulus fibres to deliver resistant and sustainable solutions that allow the usage of lighter weights delivering the same strength.

“Using 100% virgin fibres it is also the safer and healthier solution for applications that require contact with food and skin.”

“Eucalyptus globulus is five to seven times more productive than Nordic Pine and requires significantly less wood (up to 40% less) to produce the same amount of paper.

“It also grows faster, enhancing carbon dioxide absorption, both at the tree and in the soil (30-75% of the total carbon captured by the tree remains permanently in the soil after harvesting).”

The company added that research demonstrated this eucalyptus species supported two to six times more recycling cycles, depending on the species.
