The creasing technology has been retrofitted to Morgana models for some time, although users have been warned of its sub-optimal performance due to the different sizes of output shafts used by Morgana folders and Tri-Creaser Fast Fits. Morgana folders use 15mm output shafts while Tri-Creaser is made to fit to 20mm models and above.
Morgana’s smaller shafts tended to flex when processing heavier stocks and rotated much faster than other versions, which led to front edge ripping on certain substrates," according to Tech-ni-fold managing director Graham Harris.
Tech-ni-fold, parent company of Creasestream, has now incorporated its Enduracrease rubber creasing formula into the Tri-Creaser to add Morgana folders to its portfolio of suitable retrofit machines. It is already used across a number of Creasestream products.
This adds another version of Tri-Creaser to the 400 different types that already exist for different folders worldwide. Tri-Creaser is a patented rubber formula that creates creases without fibre cracking.
Both Enduracrease and supportive stabilising collars have been added to the Tri-Creaser to enable Morgana customers to achieve the same crease quality on their machine as other folders.
Harris said: "Morgana folding machines are clearly very popular in the UK, we know this by the vast amount of calls we receive, so it is good to at last be able to offer our very best Tri-Creaser Fast Fit to satisfy such demand.
"Our focus is on bringing letterpress-quality creasing as an option to as many owners of folding equipment as we can, so they items like book covers, greeting cards and leaflets that are prone to cracking in-house, rather than spending money on outsourcing."
