The 1,200 Spine/Hinge Creaser is used to eradicate the cracking that the standard metal creasing unit in the cover feeder of perfect binders can cause.
Spine/Hinge uses profiled split rubber creasing ribs, which can be replaced without having to remove the creasing shafts from the binder.
The split ribs are locked securely in place by a simple push-fit collar mechanism, which can be easily pulled apart to replace worn ribs without removing the shafts.
"With the previous one-piece, creasing ribs the shafts on the binder had to be removed, which took two to three hours. Now it only takes seconds," said Tech-ni-fold managing director Graham Harris.
The prototype Spine/Hinge Creaser product was developed for Scorpio Print Finishing, which had been looking for a more effective way of producing its four-cover spine hinge creases on difficult stocks without the need for offline creasing.
Scorpio chief executive Ian Whitfield said: "The Spine/Hinge is cheaper, better and more practical.
"I didn't take a lot of convincing from that point onwards." The second new product, the Easy-Fit Tri-Creaser for folders, is a development of Tech-ni-fold's Tri-Creaser technology, which uses colour-coded male creasing ribs and push-fit collars, similar to those on the Spine/Hinge.
The new design gets rid of the task of stretching the rubber rib over the outside of the male collar. It also means that spare ribs can be stored on the collar itself, so that users can change ribs without removing the folder shafts.
"We've made it that much better it is foolproof. It's hard to think we could improve it much more now," said managing director Graham Harris. The 900 Easy-fit is available with a 200 discount throughout June. Contact: 0116 275 1440
