There were celebrations both among the team at the show in Munich, including distribution partners, and at the company’s headquarters. Nyala has been SwissQprint’s flagship model for over a decade after launching in 2012, and the 1,000th machine will be finished and delivered to the customer in June.
The 3.2m-wide Nyala can achieve print resolution up to 1,350dpi. It is available with a roll-to-roll option while other add-ons include a dual roll option, a board option for panels up to 4m long, a glass option, and the Rob loading and unloading robot for unmanned shifts.
Nyala also has nine freely configurable colour channels, so in addition to CMYK there is capacity for light colours, white, effect varnish, orange, neon, and a primer.
On its stand (A1-D30), SwissQprint is exhibiting machines including its generation 4 Oryx, Impala, and Nyala flatbed printers – which have roll-to-roll options, as well as highlighting its special inks such as neon, white, and varnish. Visitors can enter a special room on the booth to experience the impact of the inks, which fluoresce under black light.
The Karibu 2 roll-to-roll printer, and the high-end Kudu printer, a flatbed with a roll-to-roll option, are also being showcased.
Pete Smallwood, business development manager at SwissQprint UK, said the energy efficiency of the company’s machines had particularly stood out to customers during the show.
Each of the current models has been certified according to ISO 20690:2018 for ‘top-in-class’ energy efficiency; they consume an average of 2.2kWh, the same amount of electricity as an ordinary electric kettle.
Smallwood said the company had seen “lots of really good, genuine interest and people coming with a clear understanding of what they want our machines to do”.
