The TP 400 regulatory compliant ink is free from a number of raw materials including BPA, cyclohexanone, butyl glycolate and aromatic hydrocarbons.
It is compliant with RoHS, REACH and EuPIA standards and meets the EU Toy Safety Directive DIN EN ISO 71-3:2013 as well as USP Class VI - Certificate for medical applications.
The manufacturer said the ink is safe to use for food, drink and medical applications and for products including bottle caps, medical syringes, toys and mobile phones.
It can be applied to substrates including hard PVC, acrylic, polystyrene, duroplastics, polyester, thermoplastics, metals and varnished surfaces.
The new ink, which will be part of Sun Chemical's SunPad range of inks, will be available in one-litre containers.
Rudolf Baumhoer, general manager of Coates Screen Inks, Sun Chemical’s German screen printing division, said: “We are launching this ink because the pressure on all sorts of regulatory issues - for example low migration and being user-friendly for the toy or medical industries - is heavily increasing.
“In comparison to normal pad printing inks available for the market there is no major difference for printing on certain substrates, but TP 400 complies with many regulations in an environmentally compatible and user-friendly formulation.”
Sun Chemical and Coates Screen Inks will launch the ink next month at the K 2016 show, which will take place from 19-26 October in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Following its launch the ink will be available in the UK from Sun Chemical’s exclusive UK pad inks supplier Tampo, based in Sunbury-on-Thames.
