The US-headquartered workflow specialist, which has a UK operation in Kent, will also hold its annual user conference this week in virtual format.

The iConvert module within Solimar’s Chemistry customer communications management platform turns the Intelligent Printer Data Stream (IPDS) content typically used by data centres into other formats used in graphic arts, including PDF, PostScript and Tiff.

The new functionality provides users with mixed IPDS/PDF workflows with two options for handling embedded PDF ‘object container’ resources.

It can rasterise the PDF elements and turn them into images; or, in the case of PDF output, the resources can be ‘interleaved’ with PDF content via Solimar’s Rubika tool.

“This second method preserves the structure of the original PDF resources and can be especially useful when a subsequent process is for archiving or for a highly colour-sensitive printing workflow,” Solimar stated.

Chief experience officer Mary Ann Rowan said the iConvert system had been developed and updated over the course of two decades in order to address customers’ complex printing requirements.

“The new features in iConvert enable rapid onboarding of IPDS jobs including those with embedded PDF content. Users can maintain production processes with the confidence that iConvert is providing seamless data transformations in the background,” she said.

“With this new functionality, customers will find it even easier to realise these benefits and enjoy fast, seamless document distribution to their printers, presses and e-presentment systems.”

The firm’s virtual user conference, ‘Chemistry Evolved’, takes place from 22-24 September. It is made up of six sessions including three customer panels focused on the direct mail, transactional print, and in-plant printing sectors.
