Both the HSFT III and the FH-3204 will be shown at the SGIA conference in Las Vegas on 18-20 October, after which they will be available in the UK costing around £115,000 each.
The printers, which are targeted at different areas of the industrial market, will be sold in the UK by Barnsley, South Yorkshire-based Sabur and will be available to view at the vendor’s 230sqm digital print showroom by the end of the year.
The DGI Fabrijet HSFT III supersedes the HSFT II as a high-speed textiles printer for high-volume work such as home furnishings, fashion or sportswear. Its four Kyocera industrial printheads are staggered rather than inline, which allows for an improved print speed of up to 250sqm/hr and larger jumbo rolls up to 8,000m (linear), according to Sabur. It takes a print width of 1.85m and prints resolutions up to 600x1,200dpi.
It is designed to compete with dye-subs from Italian manufacturers such as MS Printing Solutions and EFI Reggiani.
Sabur digital development director Aaron Burton said: “This is the third incarnation of the industrial HSFT option, developed as a response to customers demanding faster production speeds, as well as greater print quality and reliability.
“A key advancement upon its predecessor has been developed as HSFT machines require a controlled environment to work properly which often led to breakdowns when not implemented properly. The HSFT III has built-in sensors to monitor temperatures and warn operators of any problems in the environment.”
The FH-3204 is an industrial version of the FT-3204X
The DGI Fabrijet FH-3204 is an industrial remodelling of the South Korean manufacturer’s 3.2m FT-3204X dye-sublimation printer. A hybrid system, it is capable of both paper transfer and direct-to-textile sublimation, suited to industrial manufacturers required to work on a wider range of fabrics, including lightweight substrates.
Capable of speeds up to 155sqm/hr and resolutions up to 600x1,800dpi, it is aimed at the same markets as Mimaki’s TS500 transfer printers.
“The FH-3204 takes the FT-3204X’s capabilities and makes the jump into the industrial sector,” said Burton. “It is directed at customers catering to the exhibition and displays markets where the volume is not as high, but a good throughput is still needed.”
Following SGIA, Sabur will enter discussions with DGI in hopes of being the first European showroom to take on the new machines. According to Burton, the vendor hopes to be making its first UK sales in “within a couple of months”.
Sabur Digital’s portfolio of digital printing equipment ranges across sectors such as textiles, UV and graphics, with machinery from DGI, Mimaki and Roland.
At Fespa Berlin in May this year, DGI was on hand for the European debut of a new 1.9m version of its Velajet eco-solvent roll-to-roll printer.
