The firm, a division of Arjowiggins, said the Priplak Digital for HP Indigo One Shot range recognises the growth of digital printing for short runs and personalisation and fulfils this need with an environmentally friendly multi-application, strong synthetic media adapted for digital electro inks.
The range, which is available with immediate effect from Priplak’s UK distributors Antalis and PPB, is directly printable and said to have strong colour reproduction due to its surface characteristics.
The ‘one-shot’ technology allows colour separations to be accumulated on the blanket and transferred to the substrate in a single pass.
“You don’t get any stretching of the material because there is no risk of the temperature increasing. The registration therefore tends to be spot on, even on heat-sensitive materials,” said Priplak sales director Simon Lewis.
Five product variants are available; Backlist 300µm is specifically designed for illuminated signs and backlit posters, Izilyss Natural 350µm has a translucent appearance with surface treatment for one-sided printing and Izilyss White 350µm offers standard opacity with surface treatment for one-sided printing.
Izilyss Opaque 280µm offers increased opacity and surface treatment for two-sided printing while Izilyss Opaque 440µm features high levels of opacity with surface treatment for two-sided printing.
The range is tear and impact resistant?and easy to convert after printing using die cutting, punching, gluing and stapling techniques. It is available in a ream wrapped SRA3+ (320x464mm) sheet size and suitable for POS, presentation and stationery products.
“We’re also seeing new markets such as packaging and labelling where traditionally Priplak hasn’t been used by smaller scale producers,” said Lewis.
The range is said to be up to to 35% lighter than other synthetic substrates such as PVC, PET and Polycarbonate. It also contains no harmful additives and is fully REACH compliant and 100% recyclable.
Lewis did not reveal pricing but said the range is “significantly cheaper” than polyester.
