The US developer said the new release, which is available from June, introduces new colour technologies for colour accuracy, consistency and conformance to standards such as G7 and Fogra that printers can prove to their customers.
It is also compatible with iccMAX, the new standard recommended by the ICC for all wide- and grand-format print applications including textile printing and soft signage.
Onyx 18 is available for the company’s entire product portfolio, including its Onyx Thrive print workflow and Onyx ProductionHouse, Onyx PosterShop and Onyx RIPCenter RIP software.
Onyx Graphics director of product marketing Bryan Manwaring said: “This version puts the power of Onyx into the hands of print service providers to go after that big account and distinguish themselves against their competition with stunning output quality.”
The product embraces Adobe PDF Print Engine (APPE 4.8), which means faster processing and also brings spot colour handling, Onyx said, with up to 127 channels that can be specified and used in any given region.
Other new features include AccuBoost and ColorCheck, boosting accuracy of ICC profiles and colour accuracy, respectively.
Customers can purchase an Onyx 18 software license or upgrade from a previous version through the Onyx Advantage software maintenance programme.
Onyx Graphics is at booth 3.2-C51 at Messe Berlin until tomorrow (18 May).
