The technology, which has been in development for the past two years and should become commercially available in 2017, uses water-based pigmented ink and prints on a varied range of materials.
Frank Jänschke, OKI wide-format general marketing manager, said: “What we are showing here is that OKI is now really focusing on new innovations in the large-format industry, to respond to the demands of our customers.
“This is a really environmentally friendly new solution for the future.”
The new technology allows for printing on a range of substrates, including polyester and clear film. Jänschke said he considers it to be a “small revolution” in the market.
Also being shown on the OKI stand is the latest wide-format Colour Painter H3-104s, which launched seven months ago. It is 2.6m-wide and prints at up to 56.6m2/hr. There is also the Pro64 NeonColour toner, which allows for printing onto transfer media. It launched last month.
