The exhibition and event specialist had to move a 10mx18m wall by 6m in order to house the new addition, which is already producing high quality graphics at the company after a week of installation, profiling and training.
Managing director Simon Osborne described the Vutek, which replaces a PressVu 200/600, as "incredibly versatile".
"Its capabilities are enormous and it has definitely improved the quality and speed of our direct print work. We're looking forward to acquiring a second one now," he added.
The printer can be switched from roll-to-roll to flatbed operation in under a minute and can print up to 223sqm per hour with resolutions up to 1,000dpi on a variety of substrates.
It will enable the 17-staff company, which also has a 30-strong installation squad, to target high quality exhibition, retail and point of sale applications.
Operations director Andy Delpech said: "With budgets being squeezed everywhere we look, people are relying on UV printing more and more.
"We run print to Foam, PVC, self-adhesive vinyl, optically clear window film, stoplight polyester for portable displays, frontlit and backlit PVC, digital canvas, polyester flag, polycarbonate, Kapa and DiBond, and the list is growing. As the majority of the print we produce is viewed at short distance the quality has to be there.
"We had four main reasons for upgrading - to bring the ability for white print in house, increase our productivity, enable us to print on wider media, and improve on the quality of our UV print.
"We can now use the multi-layer printer to mute or enhance selective areas of a lightbox or window graphic giving some fantastic results, not to mention its ability to reproduce even dark colours, as well as black that will remain black. Other colours are vibrant and strong while the detail and clarity in the image remains true. I know that sounds like a given, but this means that we can produce something special.
"For a long time we have been buying in 3m-wide print, and it is always a headache when you need to factor another company's workload into your planning. The extra width the GS has given us has definitely helped."
He added that productivity had increased dramatically to the point where the business is looking at buying another cutter.
