The Swiss business confirmed last month that its UK wing, which was established forty years ago, had been shuttered and would be liquidated due to the firm’s “already prolonged negative overall economic situation”. All 22 employees were laid off.
While the closure did not affect Kern Group’s other subsidiaries, the firm had also said it was not possible for the parent group to take over existing service contracts in the UK.
In a statement released on Friday (8 September), Kern said it wanted to put the minds of customers at rest regarding the continuation of Kern services in the UK and that it had acted swiftly to ensure any issues regarding technical support and new equipment sales were reduced by appointing a new UK agent.
As of 1 September, Vortex Systems was appointed as Kern’s technology partner for all related operations in the UK.
“Vortex is already a trusted manufacturing supplier to Kern and boast extensive technical and industry knowledge,” Kern stated.
“Thanks to the engagement of sales and technical support staff with many years of experience with Kern products, this will ensure the transition of services will be managed in a professional and efficient manner.”
Brett Staples, director of Vortex Systems, will be contacting all clients over the coming days.
Daniel Wenger, head of the KernMail business unit, said: “This reorganisation will strengthen the existing cooperation and expand the proven structures. Customers will thus continue to be served by an experienced team and have contact persons directly on site.
“We have been present in England for many decades, so I am pleased that this will also be the case in the future through our cooperation with Vortex.”
