The new device, which will be shipping from Q4 this year, is targeted at businesses producing resources for education and training, notebooks and calendars, where books need to lay completely flat.
It features a high speed VFX vacuum feeder capable of running at 140ppm, a heavy duty StreamPunch VFX automatic punching and creasing module and eWire VFX twin-wire automatic binding system.
The new twin-tray vacuum feeder is the latest design from the Plockmatic group, including patent-pending technology designed to reduce setup times. It can handle paper weights from 75-300gsm, including coated paper, and the feeder holds up to 5,400 sheets.
The StreamPunch feature uses different die-sets for a variety of hole types including wire binding, coil binding, plastic comb binding or basic printed sheet creasing. Pages can be punched and bound, or bypass the binder for other applications.
Six different wire spool sizes can be used for documents up to 10mm or 100pp thick, while a choice of black, white or silver wire is available according to job specifications.
Prices for the machine vary according to specifications but a simple feeder and punch solution starts at £30,000, according to VP sales and marketing for the Plockmatic Group Offline Business Unit, Ray Hillhouse.
He said: “This newly created, fully automated solution provides for significantly greater productivity versus manual production, and greater flexibility when compared to complex inline solutions. We see a sizeable gap in the market for such a compact, free-standing unit.”
Morgana’s Print'n'Finish open house event is taking place at its Milton Keynes showroom from today until Thursday (14-16 Sept) and is free for anyone to attend.
