Japan-headquartered Komori completed its takeover of German manufacturer MBO in May, and the companies have been working together on synergies since.
This includes connecting MBO’s Datamanager software system with Komori’s KP-Connect.
KP-Connect is a cloud-based system that spans press production and operating conditions through to scheduling and workflow automation with the ‘Pro’ version.
MBO Datamanager includes production planning, job data, as well as templates and a job archive for repeat work.
“Linking those systems will offer huge advantages and create value for customers equipped with the two brands,” said Komori marketing manager Peter Minis.
Komori is now also selling the MBO CoBo-Stack, a “collaborative robot” that doesn’t need to operate inside a protective cage and handles what is a physically tiring job from the operator.
The CoBo-Stack is retrofittable and works with MBO A500/A700 folders and Palamides Alpha 500/700 Plus and Pro models.
Stacks of folded signatures are transported from the delivery of the folder to the collection area of the CoBo-Stack.
The CoBo-Stack then picks up the stacks places them on a pallet, using the required stacking pattern.
“With a shared vison to reduce labour intensive activities, the new MBO CoBo-Stack will play a prominent role,” Komori said.
In France the two companies are now operating under one managing director.
In the UK MBO products are sold by long-standing distributor Friedheim International.
MBO will also take part in the Postpress Alliance online event later this month.
Separately, Komori has added new flagship ‘Advance’ models to its Lithrone GX40, G40 and G37P press ranges, described as offering the highest productivity and ROI to users.
