The centrepiece of its exhibit at the show will be the Prosper Ultra 520 high-speed inkjet press.
The first Ultra 520 was installed last year as part of a controlled introduction of the press, which uses Kodak’s Ultrastream continuous inkjet technology.
Kodak said the Ultra 520 would be shown running with “newly launched versatile Kodak manufactured pre and post finishing solutions”, although further details are under wraps until the show.
Last summer Kodak acquired key partner Graphic Systems Services. The Ohio firm makes a range of bespoke web handling products and owns the Global Web Finishing and Scheffer brands. Its range of finishing system options includes coating, pattern gluing, die-cutting, punching, perforating, folding and sheeting.
The Ultra 520 runs at up to 152m/min, and will be printing using Kodachrome inks.
At a previous product roadmap briefing held in the timeframe of what would have been Drupa 2020, Kodak had also confirmed that it was working on a sheetfed inkjet product, but there’s no further information on that as yet.
Also new at Drupa will be wide-width Kodak Prosper imprinting systems targeted at hybrid packaging and commercial printing.
“This inkjet innovation can be integrated into offset, flexo and gravure presses as well as postpress and converting systems for highly flexible, high-quality digital imprinting of custom packaging, security, and commercial print applications,” Kodak stated.
The existing Prosper Plus and S-series imprinting heads are 105mm wide but can be combined to create wider widths.
The new Prinergy v11 workflow will also be on show, along with Prinergy Business Solutions and the cloud-based Prinergy Access offering that promises connectivity with “any digital press and any on-premise workflow”.
Kodak also plans to celebrate 20 years of its Sonora process-free plates at the expo. Koenig & Bauer, Komori and RMGT will all be running Sonora plates on their litho presses at Drupa.
Koenig & Bauer’s stand will also be home to a Kodak Magnus Q800 platesetter with Multi-Pallet Loader. The Q800 can image up to 84 B1 plates per hour.
Kodak chairman and CEO Jim Continenza said Kodak was offering printers innovative digital tech as well as automated solutions for offset printing.
“With our presence at Drupa 2024, we will demonstrate our commitment to innovation across our complete portfolio of both traditional and digital solutions,” he stated.
“At the Kodak booth, printers will learn how Kodak can help make their business more efficient and profitable in today’s ‘and’ era of print.”
Kodak’s booth at Drupa is in Hall 5, stand A02-2.
