Kern launches K91 card affixing machine

Mailing equipment manufacturer Kern has launched its latest card affixing machine, the K91, at the Cartes show in Paris earlier this month.

The new machine can fix up to 4,000 cards per hour into mailers using 350mm-wide reels of double-sided adhesive.

It uses magnetic stripes and OCR codes for contactless identification during production to ensure each card and carrier is correctly matched for optimum security. The Windows control panel monitors the pieces throughout production and creates an audit report for users.

Kern’s patented ‘pick and place’ robot technology is in place for card application, reducing the amount of human intervention needed and speeding up production.

It comes with two high capacity card loaders and is designed as a modular machine to enable customers to add elements as volumes and job complexity grows.

Clive Martin, Kern UK strategic business manager, said: "The new innovative compact system occupies a small space and is configured to be run by one operator only, making it an extremely cost effective solution for 24/7 card production."

He added that the K91 was a more "price competitive" alternative to its predecessor, K90, but details of the final price are not yet publicly available.
