Kern AG has integrated Müller Apparatebau GmbH, based in Kranzberg near Munich, into the Kern Group.

In a deal announced this week, the two businesses said that, together, they offer “a wide range of systems and solutions that meet the highest standards and enhance efficiency and productivity across various customer segments”.

Kern specialises in high-performance mailing systems for high to very high production volumes, while Müller Apparatebau offers systems in the medium to high production volume range.

The companies said the partnership was based on a shared vision and common values as well as “the goal of developing the best solutions for customers and interested parties”.

They said the integration would allow for optimal utilisation of resources and synergies, with Müller Apparatebau expanding the existing production of standard parts and providing extra production facilities for Kern, which is based in Konolfingen, Switzerland.

“We are very pleased with the merger with Müller. Together we can consolidate our strengths and offer our customers even better solutions. This is an important milestone for us and the entire industry,” said Stefan Wüthrich, CEO of Kern Group.

Robert Fortmeier, owner of Müller Apparatebau, will financially contribute to Kern. He will also have a seat on the board of directors, where his extensive market knowledge in mechanical engineering will strengthen the five-member team.

Fortmeier also commented: “The merger with Kern opens up new opportunities for us and strengthens our position in the market. We are confident that together we will develop innovative products that meet the needs of our customers and set new standards.”

The two businesses will make a joint appearance at the Hunkeler Innovationdays exhibition from 24-27 February in Lucerne, where they will present their expanded product portfolio.
