The Prima from Italian manufacturer NewBind features the NPS integrated PUR close gluing system found on NewBind’s Adventure, Explore, Supra and Pioneer binders, alongside a range of features typically only found on bigger machines. According to Encore, it is easy to adjust for thickness manually and is available for just under £20,000.
It has semi-automatic clamping, cover and nipping stations and also features milling, micro-notching and waste extraction along with a maintenance-free closed pressurised melting tank. A slot nozzle glue system for both spine and side glue application and an electronic spine and side glue cut off improve accuracy and reduce waste.
Encore Machinery managing director Mike Biggs, said that older closed tank PUR glue binders needed a pre-melter, which could cost as much as £30,000. He added: "At this price level you would normally only get an open tank machine."
Encore, based in Luton, Bedfordshire, is the sole distributor for the Prima in the UK and Holland. Biggs said the machine had generated a lot of interest. The company also sells the rest of the NewBind range.
