Making its debut at Fespa in hall 5 on stand 1-G71, the Terra Silver uses unique Terra pigment ink for high-quality, highly sustainable direct-to-textiles printing without steaming or washing.
Commercially available with immediate effect, the 1.8m-wide machine is part of EFI’s complete Terra line-up of pigment ink printers. The machine can print up to 190sqm/hr with eight dual-channel printheads.
Features include a new recirculating ink system for superior reliability and minimum maintenance, several printing modes to ensure maximum flexibility in terms of design capability, and new real-time image processing that eliminates time spent in image pre-calculations.
The machine, which EFI said prints smoothly and precisely on knitted and woven fabrics, also features a more efficient polymerisation process that takes place as printed textiles go through the printer’s on-board dryer.
The EFI Reggiani Terra pigment inks that are used on the Terra Silver are said to deliver “excellent wet and dry fastness properties and remarkable sharpness in detail”. The eco-friendly, water-based inks provide high print durability and yield longer printhead life with reduced maintenance costs.
Speaking at Fespa, EFI Reggiani vice president and general manager Adele Genoni said: “This is a solution that enables customers approaching industrial textile to [take] their first steps in this industry.
“We’ve heard a lot about nearshoring, reshoring, about sustainability of course, and about the rise of businesses that are really growing online.
“When EFI Reggiani decided to develop this printer, it was bearing in mind this new segment of customer growth; those that are willing to start sometimes online businesses and grow and integrate something easy to use in their facility, that at the same time can respond to the need of a fast delivery time and very, very short turnaround time.”
EFI Reggiani has also launched a number of other digital textiles printers during 2021, including the Reggiani Hyper, which is available in widths of 1.8m, 2.4m, or 3.4m, the single-pass ultra-high-speed Reggiani Bolt, and the industrial entry-level Reggiani Blaze.
