The firm was created following the sale of Agfa’s Offset Solutions division to private equity group Aurelius.
Its new flexo solution – initially targeted at label printers – will have its debut at Labelexpo in Brussels.
It comprises of ECO3’s Amfortis cloud-based software for packaging prepress functions including artwork preparation and plate layout.
Spir@l screening software and GridTune surface patterning are deployed for “optimal ink laydown and increased print latitude”.
Flexo platemakng involves the new Magis range of equipment and consumables for the production of aqueous flexo plates with flat top dots “for the finest dot reproduction”.
The plate washout is soap-based and solvent-free.
The Magis P-Eco plates can also be used with conventional screening patterns.
Magis is Latin for ‘more’ or ‘greater’.
How the system fits together
ECO3 head of marketing Guy Desmet commented: “The attractive 'total cost-of-ownership' of our open system will be especially appealing to those label printers who consider taking prepress as an in-house activity, rather than having to rely on external service providers.”
ECO3 said it would focus on Europe and Latin America initially, before expanding the flexo roll-out.
Head of sales Frederik Dehing added: “Our primary target is the label segment, but it is our ambition to grow in this industry, both in geography and in applications.”
Over the summer ECO3 announce v2 of its Amfortis software, which includes new features for increased automation and quality control. It also has a new feature, WebApproval, which allows print buyers and end customers to view and approve print-ready files.
Labelexpo Europe runs from 11-14 September.
