Revive Mail Wrap is part of the merchanting group’s own Revive recycled brand and has been developed over the past 12-months in partnership with an undisclosed European mill.
It’s predominately manufactured from recycled pulp with a cocktail of FSC certified virgin pulp and Kraft fibre for whiteness and added strength.
Denmaur said the resulting range, which is part of its recently expanded Carbon Balanced portfolio, offers strength and high levels of water resistance and opacity and is ideally suited for magazines and catalogues.
According to Danny Doogan, marketing and sustainability director, it’s been tested on litho and inkjet processes, with no pre-coat on the latter, “without issue”, but is yet to be taken to the stage to apply for individual manufacturer guarantees.
He said the material’s USPs were “low Cobb value for moisture resistance, comparatively high bulk, recycled content, carbon balanced certification and [the fact] it can be obtained from stock in small quantities for next day delivery.”
He also highlighted that as well as offering obvious sustainability benefits against traditional poly, it also outperformed other alternatives.
“Starch based and PE lined paper wraps have been adopted as alternatives to poly-wrap, but they can also have practical, commercial and sustainable implications that you won’t get with a pure paper product.”
While Revive Mail Wrap is Denmaur’s first paperwrap to be available from stock for next day delivery from its 2,000sqm BRC-certified distribution hub in Bardon, Leicestershire, the group has supplied virgin and craft wrap products mill direct for a number of years.
But it will now carry 80gsm Revive Mail Wrap reels as a stock range in widths of 420, 460, 497 and 520mm for next day delivery. The new range is also available in 10 lighter weights for mill direct orders, with all but the lightest 36gsm product, offering a breaking strength of 32N/sqm.
Denmaur managing director Nick Gee said: “We expect the stock range to evolve as more dedicated machinery comes onto the market and more magazines and catalogues make the switch to paper wrap.
“With all of its attributes and the fact that it’s recycled and Carbon Balanced stock item, we think Revive Mail Wrap is a genuine game changer.”
