Manufactured by Italian firm Mito, the PlayMatrix 4.0 is an electronic machine used for the accurate cutting of creasing matrix.
The device is composed of six different tracks and is able to cut and store six reels at the same time. It has a measuring and transport system, an adjustable driving device for each track, and a cutting device.
It can be used in manual mode to cut single pieces or a series of pieces of the same size, or in automatic mode to cut different sizes and different types of creasing matrix, through the use of instructions generated by manual input or by reading a DXF file.
C&T said the machine is suitable for boxmakers and large users of creasing matrix and that advantages over manual cutting include reduced wastage, less labour time and more accurate and efficient cutting.
The machine is commercially available with immediate effect and costs around £10,000.
C&T commercial director Howard Mead said: “This is a new product manufactured by our sister company in Italy. It’s very simple to use and enables the operator to cut the matrix and then put it onto the die very quickly.
“You can cut it down very accurately, which means that you can make-ready the die quickly and efficiently. Cutting off reels also means that there is about a 7%-10% saving on the creasing matrix that you use so it’s also quite an economical product.”
C&T offers several brands of creasing matrix, including Kiss, Jazz, XTC and Corrugate, and also manufactures and supplies a range of accessories for die-making, die-cutting and print finishing.
The Wellingborough, Northamptonshire-based company has also just introduced a new Pertinax counter sheet for carton manufacturing and expanded its steel cutting plate portfolio while at the end of 2018 it bolstered its Sprintrubba range of rubber profiles with the addition of a new self-adhesive version.
Its other recent developments include improvements to its Reverse Bend Matrix product, a new strategy of managed inventory for its larger UK customers and Rapido, which it called “a brand-new concept in PVC creasing matrix”.
