The Chinese firm's launches include a new digital inking system that can be retrofitted to any offset press. Cron said this system would enhance image quality, reduce ink usage and shorten the makeready time between jobs.

Cron Europe regional director Derek Sizer said: “There are a lot of companies that can't afford to invest €1m in a new press so the question in our mind was what could we produce to help them to compete against digital print.

“With our digital inking system a conventional press could be converted over a weekend and a printer could then be enjoying savings on ink, reduced waste and improved quality after a week or so. It's an interesting product with a lot of potential.”

Also new is the Cron HDI Flexo CTP, which will be available in a 900mm width for label applications and in 1,600mm for general packaging work, and new low-chemistry UV and processless thermal plates, which will be sold under the Blackwood brand.
