Cerm specialises in solutions for the labels and packaging markets. Omikai has developed a native cloud-based MIS that Cerm described as “state-of-the-art”.
Belgium-based Cerm has also been developing its own cloud-based system for the past four years, and said the Omikai buy would accelerate this development.
Cerm CEO Jan Heyse commented: “We have been strongly impressed with the cloud MIS product and service offering of Omikai and believe our companies have a similar vision, customer focus and culture.
“Joining forces will strengthen our cloud product development and create additional value for our customers. We welcome the entire Omikai team to Cerm and eagerly look forward to further accelerating the business, growing our joint team, and expanding our product offering.”
The Omikai modular platform involves an “API first” approach. It has an intuitive interface and spans “the entire administrative workflow” including ecommerce, CRM, estimating, planning, production, warehousing, logistics, finance and business intelligence.
Omikai CEO Mathias Erlandsson founded the business 13 years ago. He said he was excited about the future with Cerm.
“As an entrepreneur, I’ve always believed that innovation and a personal commitment to our customers are at the heart of success.
“Together with Cerm, we now have a unique opportunity to accelerate our mission and deliver even more innovative digital solutions to the printing, label, and packaging industry. I look forward to building on our legacy of excellence and creating even greater value for our customers, partners, and friends. This is not just a business move—it’s a shared journey toward an even brighter future.”
He said Cerm’s future strategy would centre around Omikai as the core technology platform, “ensuring that our joint innovative solutions continue to lead the market”.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Cerm has nearly 500 customers worldwide and a host of integrations with other vendors. Omikai currently has 50 customers, primarily in Nordics, Germany and South Europe.
Cerm regained its independence when it was acquired by an MBO team nearly five years ago. It will hold its annual user group conference next week, in Paris.
