The new plastic-free products, Libra Weather Board, Dispa Outdoor and Katz Outdoor, have been added to the organisation’s Visual Communications sustainable portfolio in response to increasing demand for non-plastic outdoor products.
Libra Weather Board is fully recyclable, has a water-repellent core made from recycled fibres and is laminated with kraft liner for rigidity. It is designed to be used for short-term outdoor displays of up to eight weeks.
Dispa Outdoor is also 100% recyclable and similarly designed for short-term outdoor signage and displays. It features a smooth, printable, white surface with a lightweight, paper core keeping it flat and helping to retain its shape.
Finally, Katz Outdoor is a slightly longer-lasting board for outdoor use, recommended for election campaigns, event signage and POS displays. Marketed as an eco-friendly alternative to PE-coated substrates and polypropylene fluted sheets, it will last up to 12 weeks, has a water-resistant spruce wood core and is laminated with poster paper. The product can also be disposed of along with main waste paper recycling.
The new products are rated within the firm’s Green Star System, designed for customers to identify the eco-credentials of a particular product.
Antalis visual communications product manager Paul Neale said that customers were increasingly looking for eco-responsible alternatives for outdoor applications.
“Traditionally, plastic-based products have been used due to harsh weather restricting the use of fibre-based materials. We’ve been working with our suppliers to explore fibre-based products that are suitable for external environments, providing quality and durability, as well as strong environmental credentials,” he added.
