The manual feed system, which was launched earlier this month, can wrap items up to 250mm wide, including A4 and A5 packs.

It can process up to 1,300 mail packs per hour. According to AMS the machine has a simple mechanism: users drop material in the top of machine and press a button, it automatically adjusts for the pack length and the sealed pack is then ejected fully wrapped.

The compostable film wrap, which AMS has stocked since early October, is highly transparent and secure, and made from a by-product of potato chip manufacturing.

Certified as fully home-compostable, the wrap can be disposed of with food waste, garden compost, or in green council recycling bins. It is also completely biodegradable and contains no oil-based materials, plastics, or harmful toxins.

The film also works on other AMS machines, such as the Autowrap, WrapMatic and X-Bag.
