The AMS Envelope Wrapping System, which was released last week and is commercially available, consists of a high-speed duplex colour printer, folding machine and inserter in one unit.
The firm said the in-line system can create new style envelopes, print, insert and seal in one simple flow, which significantly cuts production time when creating posting mail.
The flow of the machine enables the glue-lined envelope form to be printed on and addressed, prior to being folded. The insert is enclosed and then sealed to create a single mailing piece.
A growing number of the company’s customers are concerned about the confidentiality and integrity of the mail they send out and this system meets their requirements, the firm said, because the new style of envelope has an “innovative” opening that ensures mailings are secure.
AMS managing director Kevin McPheat said: “The ability to make envelopes as part of the mail insertion process makes the Envelope Wrapping System the next generation of mail finishing.
“We continue to look for ways to make postal mail preparation easier for our clients as well as enabling them to produce personalised, eye-catching mail that is unique, cost effective and of high quality. The Envelope Wrapping System ticks all the boxes.”
The envelopes created can be either C5 or DL in size with A4 paper inserted. Up to 2,200 completed pieces of mail per hour can be produced. Dependent on stock weight up to six pages can be inserted and printed in colour on both sides.
The Envelope Wrapping System costs around £60,000 though AMS said it expects most users to lease the device, which costs around £295 per week.
AMS provides mailroom equipment and consumables to printers, mailing houses and offices that send out postal mailshots. Its products range from envelope and label printers to folding and inserting machines, polywrapping systems and mailing software.
