Under the terms of the contract, which was signed on 25 April, Allied Images will supply equipment from the Contex range including the IQ, SD, MFP Repro scanners and HD Ultra scanner, which recently won the Wide Format Imaging top product award for best scanner for the second consecutive year.
The deal is a revival of the Danish manufacturer’s partnership with the UK distributor, which had the distribution contract around nine years ago.
Allied Images then took on a dealership agreement for Colortac to focus on UK-manufactured products, according to Allied Images marketing manager John Bennett, with the Contex deal being taken on by Art Systems.
Bennet said that Allied Images had sought to revive its relationship with Contex when it decided to enter new markets, such as graphic arts, advertising and mapping which, he said, required the high resolution and colour accuracy that Contex scanners offered.
Allied Images managing director Steve Morin said: "We are impressed with their superior quality and market leading technology.
"This new agreement gives us an opportunity to drive forward in partnership with Contex to focus on delivering the best solution for all applications.
"We’re looking forward to moving into new markets where Contex’s proven quality, performance and technology advantages will prove decisive in gaining new business."
Allied Images is now in talks with the main suppliers within its reseller channel to set discounts and targets.
Overall, Allied Images has around 50 resellers, to which the Contex scanners are universally available on an adhoc basis.
