The Belgian company said the new inks “boast high quality and performance while minimising ink usage”.
Agfa develops and manufactures its own inks at its facility in Mortsel, Belgium, which was recently expanded with an additional ink production plant to keep up with growing demands.
One of the latest developments is the Onset 560 ink, which Agfa said “offers excellent print quality and a wide colour gamut combined with low ink consumption, resulting in proven double-digit savings compared to other inks, with typically at least a 20% ink saving”.
It said this was made possible through Agfa’s patented Thin Ink Layer technology, which uses “a unique dispersion method of pigments with exceptional colour strength”.
The Onset 560 UV ink has obtained the Greenguard Gold certification, which assures its compliance with strict chemical emission limits and makes it suitable for use in sensitive indoor environments like schools and healthcare facilities.
Also new is the water-based Avinci 110 ink for Agfa’s Avinci CX3200 dye-sub textile printer. This inkset has obtained the Oeko-Tex Eco passport, an independent certification system for chemicals, colourants, and auxiliaries used in the textile and leather industry.
The passport states that the ink is free from any harmful substance and can therefore be used to decorate fabrics that will be safe for both humans and the environment.
“We demonstrate our expertise in developing and producing inkjet ink through our ability to consistently deliver high-quality prints,” said Agfa business manager, Industrial Inks, Marc Graindourze.
“This is made possible by our inks’ exceptional ink shelf life, consistent batch-to-batch performance, reliable jetting, and vibrant colour strength.
“All of that is in turn achieved through application-oriented R&D as well as rigorous testing and quality control measures that are implemented throughout the ink manufacturing process.”
Agfa is exhibiting on stand B2-D15 at Fespa Global Print Expo, where it has also launched a new compact roll-to-roll printing module for its high-speed Jeti Tauro H3300 UHS LED wide-format printer.
