Under the tagline ‘Powerful by Nature’, the manufacturer said its printers have been given a fresh identity, “now sporting names of formidable animals that reflect their unique strengths”.
The new machines being showcased on its stand include the Jeti Condor RTR5200 S, a 5.2m-wide roll-to-roll printer that can print up to 672sqm/hr and handles a wide variety of flexible substrates at up to three rolls simultaneously.
The machine, which is field-upgradable, features CMYK and optional Lc/Lm/Lk and white and varnish for increased design and application options.
The launch of this machine – a rebadged version of the EFI Vutek Q5r but with an Agfa service and workflow package – follows Agfa and EFI’s announcement earlier this year that they had joined forces to expand their respective product ranges by adding OEM machines to their portfolios.
Also new from Agfa is the Jeti Bronco H3300 S, a 3.3m-wide high-end UV-LED printer that prints a variety of sign and display jobs at up to 248sqm/hr in six colours (CMYK/Lc/Lm) plus white, with optional primer. Agfa said continuous board feeding enhances productivity efficiency even more, whereas independent dual-roll printing allows for the simultaneous printing of differently sized rolls or diverse media.
In the first stage, the Bronco will be available with two rows of printheads. However, this is also field-upgradable to a four-row version.
The third debut is the Anapurna Ciervo H3200, a 3.2m-wide hybrid that boasts a much higher productivity than its predecessor, with an almost 70% increase in printing speed in Production Mode. The CMYK/Lc/Lm plus white machine’s highest speed is 209sqm/hr while the printer’s continuous board feeding capacity enables efficient printing on rigid materials, at up to four boards simultaneously.
Agfa is also showcasing two of its other machines at Fespa, including the 3.3m-wide Jeti Tauro H3300 UHS hybrid wide-format inkjet printer, which can print at up to 905sqm/hr and features multiple automation options.
Finally, the Onset Grizzly X3 HS, previously named the Onset X3 HS, is also being shown. This is a flatbed inkjet press with a speed of up to 1,450sqm/hr, fast setup, and multiple automation options – including loading/unloading robots – which is suitable for high-volume graphics and packaging jobs.
Director of marketing for Agfa DPC (Digital Print and Chemicals), Bruno Vermeulen, said that with its three new launches, “we are completing our portfolio and permanently continuing to build on that portfolio”.
He added: “Agfa really has a beast for every need, it doesn’t really matter what type of printer you’re looking for – we have hybrid, flatbed, and roll-to-roll printers in our portfolio – and it doesn’t really matter what speeds you are looking for. If you look for a wide-format inkjet printer then Agfa is just the place to be, and that’s the message we wanted to convey.”
The Ciervo, Tauro and Grizzly printers are all available now, with the Condor following in early summer and the Bronco in Q3.
Fespa Global Print Expo runs until Friday (22 March) at the RAI in Amsterdam.
