Green envelopes, T-cards & Stahls

Jo Francis tracks down the solutions to your technical troubles

Q We have a customer who requires machine-insertable FSC oversize DL non-window envelopes that conform to the Royal Mail's Sustainable Mail specification. It seems that the only FSC envelopes are self-seal or peel ‘n' seal. Does anyone have any ideas?

A You don't mention quantities, but the following suppliers all said they should be able to help: Wessex Envelopes 0800 783 3486; Viking Envelopes 01293 863354; and Pillarbox 01942 722572. The Sustainable Mail scheme allows for discounts of up to 4.7% on standard Mailsort prices for those mailings that meet the highest criteria, so I imagine there must be lots of interest in complying to this standard. More information can be found on the Royal Mail website, www.royalmail.com.

Q Can anyone put me in touch with a trade supplier of T-cards. The enquiry is only small, 2,000 printed mono on both sides.

A An answer comes via Bill Cheesman, one of the many helpful members of PrintWeek's online community. Bill suggests T-cards Direct (www.tcardsdirect.co.uk) and Purely Print (www.purelyprint.co.uk, 01258 459977) as a suitable printer if the cards need to be printed.

Q I'm looking for a used Stahl machine which can produce 32 A4 pages, as far as I know the older ones were identified by KZR and the newer ones by KLL. Please correct me if I'm wrong or if I can achieve the same configuration with a different Stahl model.

A I was pipped to the post in answering this by PrintWeek community member Not ‘The Doctor' NDCT, but my answer would have been precisely the same as his, that being to ring Chris Barrett at Grafitec on 01924 223883.

Lenticular list #2
Progress is being made in my mission to create a new definitive list of lenticular printers (Help Line, 3 July). Rod Fisher of Print-Leeds says his company has considerable expertise in this area. The firm is 100% UV and has produced lenticular work for numerous blue-chip clients. It's also in the process of print testing some plastic substrates that are new to the UK.
