Q We are looking for a UK supplier that is capable of producing personalised merchandise and clothing. In particular, we want suppliers who can print a single-colour variable image onto hoodies and t-shirts. Can you help with our search?
Martin Rides, MPA, Sudbury
A Well, I certainly hope we can. I remember last year coming across an interesting UK-based clothing and fabric merchandise printer, T Shirt & Sons based in Westbury, Wiltshire. The firm lays claim to being Europe's only organically-certified t-shirt printer and has Soil Association accreditation for its printed Ts. Its ethical stance has attracted some high-profile clients too, including Greenpeace and the Glastonbury Festival, and some top fashion names. Other printed textile products produced by the company include fabric bags, for example the designer variants that have been sold by charities such as Cancer Research. T Shirt & Sons also embroiders, and this year added digital printing capabilities with a Kornit 931DS system. This has CMYK and white printing heads, and can print onto light and dark materials. Call 01373 301645 or visit www.tshirtandsons.co.uk. Alternatively try TShirt Studio in Gloucestershire (www.tshirtstudio.com 0870 922 2838) or Printed Clothing, which also has a shop in St Albans (www.printedclothing.com 01727 853289)
Q Who still prints coldset? I need to source some potential suppliers for a project involving a show daily-type newspaper product.

A Try Peterboro' Web 02392 622529 www.johnstonpress.co.uk; also Blackmore in Shaftesbury 01747 853034 www.blackmore.co.uk, and Apple Web Offset 01925 285700 www.tradermediaprintgroup.co.uk. As you're already aware of the big contract newspaper printers, I'm omitting them from my reply.
