Normanton, West Yorkshire-based Grafitec has set up a European demonstration and support centre for Brazil’s Etirama at its Yorkshire base.

Etirama’s Flexo Wine central impression cylinder press has a compact footprint of just 4x1.5m and, thanks to servo-controlled unwind and rewind, can print on unsupported materials as light as 15 micron, and up to 300 micron.

Maximum print width is 250mm or 350mm and it can print 150lpi quality UV, or 125lpi using water-based inks. A 250mm model will cost circa €149,000 (£133,000).

"The press is easy to operate and maintain, and the quality for the size and price is amazing," said technical director John Ainley.

The six-colour press includes UV varnish and cold foil/laminating units, as well as four die slots for special applications.

More than 150 have been installed worldwide since it launched in Brazil two years ago.

Specialist one-off configurations, for example for security applications, are also available.

Also on show in Normanton is Etirama’s Stamp Foil hot foiling press that Ainley claimed was the fastest and widest on the market with a 350mm web width and 10,000iph speed.
