Yes Graphics awarded twin environmental accreditations

Yes Graphics has kicked off 2008 with two new accreditations under its belt after securing both ISO: 14001 environmental and ISO: 9001 2000 management standards.

The Glasgow-based printer, which specialises in business stationery and brochures for a range of blue-chip companies, was awarded the green accolade in December following a six-month audit.

Walter Graham, managing director of the 17-year-old print firm, told printweek.com that the 10-staff operation was involved in a "group effort" and recycled all of its waste "from palettes to paper" to gain the environmental management ISO.

The firm's green cause has also benefited from a £500,000 spend on new kit, which included a waterless and chemical-free direct image press, the four-colour Presstek 52DI.

Graham added that the Presstek had "a small footprint" and helped eliminate the need to store toxic chemicals and the costs for chemical disposal involved.

Graham described the winning of the ISO: 9001 2000 Quality Management System award as confirmation of the firm's "commitment to both our clients and our staff".
