Xerox upgrades FreeFlow tool

Xerox has expanded its FreeFlow digital workflow with the launch of FreeFlow Output Manager, an add-on allowing printers to better manage which press will output which jobs.

The digital and pre-press giant has demonstrated the new software at this week's Xchange & Innovate 05 conference at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull, near Birmingham.

Output Manager, which launched last Friday (1 July), offers a single point of control for directing print jobs to any networked printer.

It aims to save costs for digital print firms and print shops by automatically queuing jobs for the printer or press most suited to the job. For a job which is mostly mono, for example, only the colour pages would be sent to the colour printer.

The software runs through a standard web browser and allows users to set parameters for the job, such as the paper stock.

Dave Baldaro, product systems group solutions marketing manager for Xerox UK,  said that the add-on would cost 12,000-15,000.
