FoldUP!3D New, was developed by Japanese software specialist Comnet and allows packaging and point-of-sale designers to see a 3D visualisation of their design from within Illustrator, eliminating the need to print, cut score and fold a sample.

The software includes paper stock simulation covering A flute and AB flute, as well as user-selected stock thicknesses.
The software uses OpenGL to view the 3D mock-up from any angle and at any scale.

3D views can be exported as 2D images in TIFF, BMP and JPEG formats.

Free viewer software is available as a standalone application or as an Illustrator plug-in. Versions of the plug-in are available for Illustrator CS through to CS4 for both Mac and PC.

XChange is selling the software at an introductory price of £195; after the promotion ends it will cost £245.
