The company developed the new printhead, which is designed for a host of high-quality packaging applications, in conjunction with Toshiba TEC.
The introduction of our new printhead marks a significant breakthrough for industrial printing applications. It can give printers near photographic quality output on plastics while retaining the ability to print variable information, said Xaar chief executive Jan Fineman.
The printhead fires multiple droplets from the same nozzle in rapid succession, as opposed to binary applications, which jettison single droplets.
Xaar claims that the system allows it to create pixels of variable sizes and therefore the ability to create an enhanced image resolution.
Toshiba NEC will manufacture the printhead in Japan, while Xaar will be responsible for branding.
Xaar will display the new greyscale printhead on stand 329 in hall 19.
