Wrights Plastics buys Mid West Displays

Retail display and signage specialist Wrights Plastics has acquired complementary company Mid West Displays.

The acquisition of the Shrewsbury-based display specialist represents a major expansion for the West Midlands manufacturer, Wrights Plastics said.

Marketing manager Brett Sidaway told PrintWeek the move would enable the company to present a “more well-rounded offering".

The 100-member team at Wrights Plastics currently offers in-house digital printing, screen printing and vinyl cutting for retailers and design agencies. However, Sidaway says the move will encompass more mid-range printing in the business.

Mid West Displays was formed in 2004, and manufacturers, supplies and installs window and interior display products for the retail, property and exhibition sectors. Wrights Plastics will take over around 40 staff employed at the Shrewsbury HQ.

Given the portfolios of each company, Sidaway said: “Our aim is to keep expanding with the retail sector of printing.”

“Certainly our client base will expand as well as our services to them,” he said.

Wrights Plastics managing director Mike Wright said that Mid West Displays is "an established brand and we wish to make the most of their expertise and experience in developing our window and interior display services".

Wrights Plastics operates from a 3,900sqm production unit in West Bromich and a 836sqm warehouse. It has an annual turnover of around £10m, with clients such as Marks & Spencer, Selfridges and The John Lewis Partnership.

Managing director of Mid West Displays Mark Newman said: “Wrights Plastics is one of the industry’s longest established organisations with an outstanding reputation. We are honoured that they see us as integral to their future expansion.”

Previous takeovers by Wrights Plastics have included POS manufacturer Acrylics Plus in 1998, and Hertfordshire-based GPX Group in 2010.
