Work boost at Digital Copy after 8,000 laminator buy

General printer Digital Copy has increased its workload and customer-base after spending just 8,000 bringing its lamination in-house.

The Bermondsey-based business brought its lamination in-house two months ago with the £8,000 purchase of a Matrix 530 laminator.

According to sales and administration manager Peter Norman, it has allowed the business to offer faster turnaround times, and work has coming flooding in – much of it from other print companies.

He said: "Laminating short print runs can be a pretty hefty cost. By bringing it in-house we can control that cost, as well as improve our turnaround times.

"We sent a note out locally and the response has been amazing. A lot of companies don't like the short-run work so they have passed it on to us – they are selling our work for us."

Norman added that in the two months the machine has been operating, it has done work for 11 new customers, many of which are now turning into repeat customers.

"In a gloomy climate we are feeling quite positive," he said.

Digital Copy employs seven staff and handles a range of fast turnaround work including price lists, personal mailing, training manuals and material for schools.
