The five-colour machine replaces two B2 Komori machines and will allow the Dublin-based commercial printer, which was founded in 1837, to run a round-the-clock operation.
Wood Printcraft, which employs 100 staff, has specified the B2 press with integral coater. It will complement a KBA Rapida 105 ten-colour sheetfed long perfector that was installed last year.
Criona Turley, managing director at £9m-turnover Wood Printcraft, said the Drupa launch of the KBA machine helped in the company's investment decision.
"We considered Heidelberg and Manroland – and everything in between. However, the KBA had much more modernity and produces a very high-quality product. Its level of automation stood out," she said.
Turley added: "We are a KBA house now. Price was a big consideration, but so was knowing it was the best system to help us move to 24-hour [production]. Since it was installed it has been running very well."
ARTICLE UPDATED, THE ORIGINAL £2.5m FIGURE FEATURED IN THE HEADLINE WAS THE TOTAL INVESTMENT BY THE COMPANY OF WHICH THE KBA WAS PART.
