The investment will see Whistl construct a 15,000sqm multi-floor mezzanine structure within the existing warehouse.
Fitted with automated conveyors, the new mezzanine will allow Whistl to process around 250,000 pick-and-pack items per week from early 2025, on top of the warehouse’s existing large stock-fulfilment capacity.
“We are excited by the opportunity we have through this investment in extra capacity to process smaller pick pack items for customers,” said Whistl executive chairman Nick Wells.
“It enables us to broaden our fulfilment offer and expand the sectors we can service.”
The warehouse, a newbuild constructed in 2021, is one of six fulfilment centres the company has opened in the past five years to capitalise on the explosion of e-commerce shopping.
In total, Whistl’s footprint extends to around 167,000sqm of logistics warehousing across the UK, across letters, parcels and fulfilment.
